the Association promotes inter-disciplinary scientific and cultural activities. In the performance of its functions, it adheres to the principles of peace and freedom advocated by the UN, UNESCO and UNICEF and undertakes with its own means to collaborate with said organizations and with those collaborating with the latter in the pursuit of the same humanitarian goals. Among said organizations are the European Parliament, the International Academy of Infomatization (AII), the International Council of Psychologists (ICP), the American Psychological Association (APA), the Inter-American Society of Psychology (SIP), the World Federation for Mental Health (WFMH) and the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP).

Since the 1980s, several Ontopsychology Associations have been founded in various countries around the world, which, although connected to the I.O.A. as their permanent reference, are endowed with their own organizational autonomy. Currently the most prominent among these are the Brazilian Association of Ontopsychology - A.B.O in Brazil and the Slavic Association of Ontopsychology – A.S.O. in the Federal Republic of Russia.

In 1999 the I.O.A. gained the special consultancy status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.

In compliance with the principles laid down in the Charter of the United Nations and with what is set out in its own statute, the Association promotes and supports projects which contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), founded on the commitment to making the right to development a concrete reality for every individual.
